Last week a thunder bang woke up the whole house including the dogs. Made my heart pound so hard I could feel it with my hand.

Yes I have and it was because the lightning blew the d**n transformer off of the nearby pole outside the bedroom window thus leaving shattered remnants of glass and transformer inards scattered about my yard ... just kidding..   but it really was because the lightning bolt was so close.
