  1. no i haven't. but if thats where your family is going to go, then it's secrue enough. trust me, they (parents) won't take  their child to an unsecure place i mean c'mon!! if they would, what kind of parents are they..(!?)

  2. Buenos Aires is relatively safe, especially in the area called "Recoleta" or "Palermo". We lived there for 4 years and it was one of the most interesting city we've ever been !!

If you do need to go to some very "touristic" areas, better to go in the daytime cause some tourist area like "La Boca" and San Telmo could be a bit edgy ... but go there and enjoy !! you'll love it !!!

  3. im from argentina! its pretty safe depending on where you go. in buenos aires, however, i would be careful because i have had my wallet stolen a few times while on the bus. it could have been my own carelessness but you always want to keep your belongings where you can feel/see them at all times.

im going to be there this summer too.

  4. I went to Buenos Aires in 2005.

Its like a European City in South America.

I found it relatively cheap, good food, nice people....

Buy a guide book , i tend to trust in lonely planet...

If you have Citibank....BA is filled with Citibanks...take money out that way....

The city I found to be relatively safe.....I was even around for a massive protest in the city centre but even that was not as bad as they made it seem....

I was also coming from a far more dangerous city in another country in S. America , so Buenos Aires was a walk in the park....

Just be street savvy, try not to look like your lost...and you'll fit right in....and if you don't feel that way...a friendly native will make you feel right at home  =)

There are many great things to see...as already mentioned in this thread.....remember to take winter clothing....and just enjoy it!

If your into Futbol or Soccer...Go to a game!

Just watching Las Barras sing and chant the entire game is an experience in itself. There are tour companies that offer "Soccer game" tours....if your afraid to venture on your own!

the season starts in early or mid August...

Foz de Iguacu(Waterfall) is awesome! I was on the Brazilian Side =)

  5. It's more or less secure, I also lived there for 6 years and only saw 2 crimes ever, one guy tried to steal a TV from  a stand outside an appliance shop on Calle Florida and a cab driver ripped me off once by switching my $20 dollar bills with $1's.  This might happen more often now that they only use pesos and people still try to pass off out of circulation bills and bonds (patacones, lecops, etc.)  you'll be fine.

  6. It is safe and Beautiful!

    You will enjoy it.

Remember "your" summer is Argentina's "winter"
