I have always had vehicles inspected. I am just wondering if many people get caught out by buying without an inspection.

  1. yes , risk you take , as above , it's not rocket science , it can be sorted ,you always have to give it a thorough going over once you have bought it .

  2. lots get cought out...but not us with sence....most buy on only looks, not mechanicals...

  3. No, and I never would buy one without an inspection.  I've had sellers who act like I'm insulting them and won't let me have it inspected, at which time I lose complete interest in buying.

  4. No

  5. The most important thing is to get an HPI check on any car you are thinking of buying to check it has no outstanding finance on it or has been ringed.   Over the years I have bought cheap cars where a certain amount of maintenance is only to be expected.  I have always tried to take someone with me who knows about cars!

  6. Many times, i have a theory that you have to pay a reasonable price for a reasonable car, if you buy a cheap one, then you have to pay a lot to get the faults remedied. You pay the same price approximately either way.  My last car was bought for £200 but has cost me another £1000 in the last two years to keep roadworthy.

    Good Luck.

  7. Much to my regret.  I was so delighted to find another Subaru Loyale, I didn't think to have it safety-inspected.

Big mistake.  It's probably gonna cost as much to keep it on the road as I paid for it.  A tough choice.

"Lemon Aid" suggests that you have the vendor get it inspected.  If it's fine, you cover the cost. Otherwise, the vendor does.
