Gargoyle

by C.S. Scotkin

Went to the dollar store today,

just to browse a bit,

a little gargoyle on a shelf

having a laughing fit!

looks at the world with plaster eyes

you know he got the joke

hands on mouth, holds chortle in

I hope he doesn’t choke….

A true Cathedral reject, he

now sits upon my shelf.

A reflection of the little imp

that lives within myself.

Investing only one green back,

a great reminder, he

not to take the world or

myself, too seriously.

  1. Gaston sounds like a dream. That is my weakness - figurines.  Hard to pass up - no matter how many I have - if one catches my "mood" - I buy it. I have a display case for them now - so it gives them a "home" - when they are not out - giving me inspiration ♥

  2. This is a cute way of expressing what we all do in some form.  I collect hardware and software, my computer is filled with stuff I'll never use. I am electronic gadget driven and I troll for bargains on the Internet. I am a card carrying member of IA "Internet Anonymous." It's a powerful drug that cripples my sleep.

  3. A gargoyle is certainly a metaphor for something other than a gargoyle! lol  I like what are you have attempted, but meter needs attention. (Of course that is only my opinion, so do with it what you want.)  Still, a nice read with a message.

  4. That was a lovely piece C,

    Pleasure buy.

Trouble is Mine are Dresses, Boots, Shoes and Jewellery,Still in boxes with tags,Just nice to know I have them there.

  5. Gad zooks!  Always wanted a Gargoyle...Gaston is a fantastic name!

(Still laughing!)  Thank you for a delightful ending to my evening!
