My 3 year old daughter called and hung up - when they tried to call back, I did not hear the phone and within 10 minutes I had 3 local and 2 state troopers in front of my house.  Talk about being embarrassed - I hope I never have to call for real.

ya. my bro and i thought that someone was trying to break into our house. he was messing with the door like he was trying to open the door. and then he opened the side gate and was like going through our back yard. It turns out that it was some inspector dude. we felt like idiots... :o) lol

Once when I forgot to lock my phone. It accidently pressed 999 and of course I didn't realise.

Then during school I got a call from a witheld number-turns out to be an operator from the emergency departmnet - it was soooo embarassing!!

Hopefully I won't have to ever ring them for real!

Yes, once when I was drunk as a joke. The police were at my house in seconds wanting to know what the problem was. BIG mistake on my part. I thought they were going to arrest me for making a false police report. Believe me, I learned my lesson.

Tons of times. My neighbors were crack dealers that used to beat their kids and I can't stand to see an innocent child get hurt. Just the other night I called the police because I heard a lady screaming for help. Ended up having to fill her house with tear gas from the SWAT team to get her crazy husband to come outside.

A few times.  My mother was sick and I couldn't get her into the car by myself.  Another time my dogs were going crazy and I saw someone lurking around in my yard.  The last time was the worst.  I went into premature labor and my son and I were home alone.  That was the worst because that baby ended up dying.

Yes, I found a big snake in my house. My husband wasn't home. I grabbed the phone and my kids and ran out the door. Didn't know the number to the police station or animal control so I did the only thing I could and called 911. They were pretty mad at me but did send help.

I spend most of my job answering 911. People, please, only call 911 if it is a life threatening emergency or immediate assistance. I get calls for the stupidest reasons. Some of them have been

1) turtle in the road

2) girl friend broke up with them

3) cat meowing

4) don't know how to turn off their oven

5) kids fighting over toys

6) can't find the remote control

7) bats in the attic

8) kids came home late

9) car is driving slow

10) think my neighbor is a terrorist

Recently, there was an incident where a young man flipped his car over, was trapped and burnt alive in it - one call. That's all we got. However, a lost dog in the road, 17, yes, 17 calls.

On my neighbors.

And on some others in my complex.  These idiots were fighting outside during the wee hours of the morning with ZERO regard for other people.  The dude decided to put his hands on the female.  One, I didn't appreciate them yelling right outside of my window and other people's windows.  Everyone was sleeping. Two, they can take that sh*t elsewhere.  No one wants or cares to see those ghetto people fight.  Unfortunately, I live on the border of two big cities.  So the dispatcher argues about which city I need.  Good thing someone wasn't dying.  They are idiots.  They constantly argue about what city my phone shoulda went to and then argue about why I was given to THAT city's 911.  For this particular time- when the dispatcher from one city transferred me to the other city, all it did was ring.  It went to a voice mail system.  Yeah, I'm glad I wasn't dying from a gunshot. Talk about stupid and a bad 911 phone system.

It was so hilarious because she called, hung up, and then 5 minutes later there was a loud banging on the door that scared the c**p out of my other cousin and I because, at the time, we didn't know she called them. My aunt asked my younger cousin about it but she just said that she was trying to call her house and accidently pressed 9-1-1. LOL!!!

Yes but it was on accident, my father was staying in room 911 and I was calling his room and I remember dialing the 7 before the 911 but I guess it didn't cause it was this man asking what was my emergency and to make matters worse my dad is always playing tricks on me so I was haha yeah whatever dad , & then they got real serious & were like u called 911 and then I was like Oh s**z when I realized my dad's room number >.<
