Have you ever dated someone so you wouldn't hurt their feelings and is it ok to do so?

I am moving and this girl took that as the time to tell me she likes me, I don't like her, should I have gone out with her once or twice before I left?

i have, but i dont recommend it. it just hurts their feelings and makes you feel bad. they have to learn to accept rejection sooner or later, thats life.

No, you've got to be honest to yourself and to this girl. if you don't like her then what is the point going out with her? It'll hurt her and you'll be made to feel guilty.  You should have been honest and told her you don't feel the same way, and either you end seeing her as a friend, or you say you want to keep in touch as friends.

Don't lead somebody on though, if you don'd have feelings for them, it's not fair on them.

It would have be the gentlemanly thing to do. It took a lot for her to tell you that. Maybe you could have had lunch, had fun and found you like her as a friend. Now that you have moved, I think she will get over you.

No, how would you like it if she did that to you, you'd be devestated that these hopes are just lies. Better tell her that you don't like her like that rather than going out and dumping her later. She might not like it but she'll get over it.

Well I dont think that you should've. I think that it may lead her on a bit. But if you made it very clear to her that you dont like her but may want her as a friend then you've done your part and there would be nothing more to do because you let the truth so therefore it shouldn't leave room for her to be lead on.

I think that would be kind of disrespectful. Even though you'd be doing it with the best of intentions, it would only end up hurting her and you. You wouldn't be happy and if she found out, she would be upset that you didn't tell her the truth and everything was just a lie.

The best thing to do in this situation is to let her down easily by saying you just want to be friends. A fake date in never good.

OMG!!! I've done this. It'ssad honestly but I felt bad for him.. Now that I think about it I feel bad for myself. I shouldn't have done it and I don't think anyone should.:(
