Have you ever done one good thing in your life?

Think very hard about this question.

Very, VERY hard.

Do not answer quickly.

Consider every situation that comes to mind thoroughly.

Can you find something that is just enough to call 'good'?

Something completely selfless?

One thing.

You may feel guilty with yourself after pondering this question.

Even if you saved a mans life, perhaps it may not have been a good thing. Maybe after they continued to live, they did bad things. Does that make your action a 'good' choice? Did you really do a 'good' thing?

Discuss please.

  14. I guess we have all done some good things for people in our lives. I actually go visit this man in a retirement center that has no family and every Christmas I buy him new clothes etc. The government only gives these  people 30 dollars a month to live off of and he likes cokes and he likes to chew tobacco. His money doesn't go far so throughout the year when I go see him I bring a case of cokes for him and tobacco at times. I do alot of Little things in our community but that is one of the major things I do.

  17. I don't live life saying what if. If I follow God's word than i'm doing good. If I saved a life of another man and he does wrong I should just pray God has mercy on him. I'll be rewarded for sharing my love of the human race. Love your enemy.

  18. the best thing i did in my life was, my neighbour had a dog that liked running away and i chased it down the street when i was 13 and it ran into a road and i ran after it and got ran over and lost partial use to my left arm.

when i woke up in hospital i found out the dog died, as i ran into the road it ran towards me and got ran over itself i was lucky the dog was their or i wouldnt be speaking now.

  19. Yes. Many. One must make it a point, a solemn oath if you will, to do as much good as you can in any given year. We never know when the opportunity will knock, but when it does, we should answer the call, well worth the effort.

Random and not so random acts of kindness help us deal with those things that we may not be able to change. It's healthy and granted, sometimes hard to do good, it's easy to be a jerk.  So, the answer is, Yes, as often as possible..

  20. DEER FRIEND,

  21. i enlisted in the military

  22. shared my kindness by answering you..here's your answer :

    Yes.

  23. Yes, I saved a kitten that was in a garbage disposal and its brothers and sisters were all dead on the ground around it, my friends aunt took it and nursed it back to health. no one could say that saving a kitten isn't a good thing.

  24. Yeah I do good things all the time. I mean; your putting way to much thought into good things; if someone has good intentions, its a good thing.

  25. Joining Habitats for Humanity.  Cliché...tell me about it, but we actually got to see the people come to the house.  They were a younger couple.

Our group's assignment was to prime and paint the entire house!  Ah!  It took the entire day to do.  People were cranky and bossy but I looked past that.  It was a great experience and I would do it again!

  26. Sure, when I do those things that the author of good (God) says are good instead of just doing "what I feel like".

  27. I think picking up trash is a good thing, and I do that all the time.

  28. By obeying the Holy Spirit when I was led to do something that I knew everyone else would not agree with.

  29. I saved my 5 year old sister a car by pushing her away from it and me getting in front. We both didn't get hit though. Even when she completely makes up lies and hurts me by suffacating me wiht a pillow when she gets mad. But I feel savingher was worth it. Even though I haven't figured out what it was worth.

  30. That's a great question.

It does make me feel guilty, because when I saw the title it came through my mind, "Duh, everyone has--I probably did a good thing today."

But completely selfless? To me, that's when no one is looking-or everyone's looking but nobody approves.

It's also pretty disturbing that every great deed I think of is when I was young. As maturity comes, innocence leaves. (Ooo, witty quote; I give myself kudos.)

What really comes to mind is when I was in 3rd grade, we were down in the valley in south Texas and drove an hour to Mexico for a day (back when you didn't need a passport).

I saw this woman who was like the image of poverty-She was sitting on the street with a baby wrapped in the excess of her cloth. I gave her all of the money I had, around $20.

But if I would have done that last month rather than 5 yrs ago, it couldn't have been called purely selfless. Because I would have been struggling with something, perhaps whether I was a good person or not, and gave the money to feel better. To tell myself I was good. Then I could go on in my materialism for a while in peace.

By writing this, you obviously wanted to make an impact on someone. You made an impact on me, one that I think will make me spread this word more or better yet, gasp, actually practice it!

I hope it's permanent, because God knows America needs more people that strive to be good for the sake of making goodness, not an excuse to continue living in ignorance.

    Thanks for writing this. ;-)

    Have a GOOD day.

  31. Good and bad are subjective terms of judgment and, as such, do not accurately describe nor properly designate that to which they are applied.

At any present moment, all things are as they are being perfect as such.

When one allows that which is to be without judgment, that one will begin to understand the true nature of all things.

This one, in being, has done what might be described as beneficial actions towards others as well as towards this ones self.

This one, in being, has done actions that could be described as being non-beneficial to others and to ones self.

    Be well.
