Have you ever done this in Germany?

My husband says it´s possible to go to the airport, pay 99€ each for a roundtrip ticket, and the airlines can fly you to somewhere warm.

Has anyone done this, and if so, what was your experience like, and would you do it again?

  1. when youre in europe, its really cheap to fly to other european countries.. from germany, you can probably fly to spain or madrid for less than 100 euros.

  2. Yes, basically you can. It is called "last minute". However, I would seriously suggest you drive to the airport near you first and have a look at what is on offer. Every airline has its own counter with posters advertising their "last minute" offers. Still, that does not mean you won´t get an altogether explanation of the offer, you can sit down and have the person at the counter tell you more about the hotel, the place etc.

Not all last minute trips are extremely cheap, not all of them are worth taking. Check out the offer and have them explain it to you further, giving more details - those last minute trips sometimes are a way for airlines and hotels to fill up their contingents that regular travellers did not book, so always keep in mind travellers who planned weeks or months in advance might have had a reason for NOT booking that particular flight, place or hotel. ;)

Still, I can recommend it. Just never drive to the airport which your luggage packed and take the next best thing, book the trip a couple of days in advance, have them explain the details and be flexible. "Somewhere warm" is a good start, cause it doesn´t limit your possibilities. :)
