Let me tell a story.

Thank goodness for the nesting instinct. I know, I still have 15w6d until the due date but have been nesting all freakin weekend long, for some odd reason. This past weekend, I've made sure our cupboards and fridge are filled with food, had DH move dressers into different rooms (my dresser into the spare room, the bookcase from DD's room into our room), and I've done LOADS of baby and toddler laundry, folded it and put it away into different rooms. I've also sorted through all hangables and hung them in order of size.

I threw out a huge boxful of garbage and recycling. I think I've taken a rest to eat and to sleep at night, and take a half hour break, since it's so hot.

Anyway, while going through the spare room, which will be DD's room once the bed we bought her comes in, I found a gift bag with tissue paper. DH was going to just throw out the whole bag, but I figured I'd go through it.

Thankfully I did, because, not only did I find my birth certificate that has been missing since April (and that I need next week to change my name on my health card), but I also found an unopened wedding card. Well, I assumed that since it was in a wedding gift bag that it was a wedding card. I opened it, and sure enough, it was a wedding card from my friend and her family. Inside that wedding card (and keep in mind, our wedding was in April of this year, so 4 1/2 months now), was a $50 bill!!

I can't believe I didn't even see this card or know of it until today, but it definitely helps. We stuck it right into Isaiah's RESP/circumcision/3D ultrasound fund envelope. Now, we are more than halfway to our goal.

It's been such a tiring weekend, but so rewarding.

Have you ever found something rewarding or of great meaning to you while cleaning?

  1. I love when that kind of stuff happens! I have never found a 50, but i I did find a 20 before. I have come across stuff from my childhood that I remembered when I saw it. I like anything that brings a smile to my face or brightens up my day a bit. congrats and good luck with the baby!

  2. I had massive problems with getting my 3 month old son to sleep.  He would just lie awake and cry for hours, then when he finally went to sleep he would wake every hour or two hours through the night and cry again!  Talk about pulling our hair out .... we were absolutely desperate for sleep!

It was a baby sleep audio program recommended by a friend that finally saved us. We followed the advice and began by creating a baby sleep routine which included bathtime, dimming of the lights, putting Paul into his crib, final nappy change and then lullabies. We also made recommended changes to his naps during the day and used some of the other recommended techniques. Within two weeks he was sleeping through the night most nights with just the odd night where he would just wake once!

Definitely start by creating a good baby sleep routine though and you could find that solves most of your baby sleep problems.

    Good luck!

  3. Wow, all I can think of is: I hope you thanked your friend and her family for their gift at some point...

No, I don't recall anything like this happening to me... but happy to hear the money came just when you needed it! :)

  4. I love it when I find money while cleaning :) Sometimes I hide money on purpose, forget where I put it, and then I have to clean my house in order to find it again. It's a great motivator!

I'm just curious, but why are you saving up money to give your son a birth defect? Being born with a f******n is perfectly normal, being born without one is considered to be a birth defect. The vast majority of men worldwide (particularly in the medically advanced European countries) are very happy not being circumcised. They like having their whole p***s and they don't have any issues because of it either!

Please consider letting your son make the decision about whether or not to cosmetically alter his own p***s once he's an adult. Circumcision can always be done at a later age (with plenty of anesthesia so he won't remember it), but it can never ever be completely undone.
