Question:

Have you ever found your bird drunk?

Vets in Sundsvall, Sweden, believed they had a case of avian influenza when

they discovered a seagull with "with yellow liquid coming out of its beak and

a**s", crashed out on its back and "kicking its legs", UPI reports.

The truth was rather less alarming - the bird was actually the worse for wear

after apparently eating yeast on a rubbish dump. Tests confirmed its state of

intoxication and the vets rather unsportingly put the poor blighter down.

  1. Only once but he was very happy.

  2. Far too often...too bad I can't put mine down hahaha

  3. Oh, gosh!

  4. No - not a bird - but we used to have a Boxer, and her name was Lady Buntington the third of Ruxley!  My father enjoyed a beer while working in his home office on the weekend - but he desk had a leather top and he refused to use a coaster.  So he set his stein on the tiled floor, and "Bunty" would slip into his office and slurp his beer.   I saw her with a few hangovers - not a funny sight!  But she did love her beer.

  5. i had a parakeet for 10 years,i came home from work, made a martini,he would fly to it, perched upon the glass, and embibe, thankfully he never ate my olive

  6. It wasn't the bird's fault. You would think they would give it a chance. I love birds, once we tried to save a wild turkey who was shot. We found him in our field still alive, my hubby  was going put it down but the poor thing died first.     Poppy

  9. I'll be a drunk bird tomorrow night!

  10. There are very few opportunities for birds to become drunk around Scotland, nor could we ever manage to forge a rational link between a Category of Senior Citizens and an intoxicated seagull.

  11. EW THAT IS GROOSE

  12. In every town in the country on a Friday and Saturday night : )

  13. in the wild - during the spring - bird's around here eat a certain berry & yes they get DRUNK!  i've seen them fly & collide with each other.

    the smart ones walk.

sad thing, when they are in this state, they are easy prey for cats.

  14. no dear!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  15. My son had a parakeet once and it got sick.  I called an all night vet and he said to give the bird a LITTLE weakened down wiskey.  I did and then my son gave it some and my other son gave it some and the bird was sure drunk. It was flying upside down and acting crazy.  It finally flew into the wall and broke its' neck.  But it died a happy little cuss I think.

  16. No, but back in my younger days, (the 70's) I had some pot. I was on the phone & I heard cheessh, cheessh, etc I looked over & saw my cat eating my pot. He was a little paranoid for a while, but he survived.

  17. interesting.

  18. Oh my gosh!  Why'd they put it down, I wonder.  Surely it would have either kicked the bucket or recovered on it's own.

Some coffee with cream couldn't have hurt, either!

  19. No I hadn't ever seen that. Had a parrot that got so mad at a Wild Kingdom presentation that she flew right into the TV and broke it.

Thank goodness she was alright, the TV cost no where near what the bird did.

  20. And why is this in "senior citizens"?????

  21. thats kinda sad

  22. no

  23. No, because the beer cans are too heavy for my poor bird to lift.

  24. Not my bird, but plenty of other drunk birds...

  25. no . but i used to have chook that would take e few sips of beer ,walk of, come back ,a few more sips then stager off.

just realised something ,no wonder omelets put me in a party mood !!!

  26. no but it's possible...

  27. Yes my budgie sipped some Campari then he flew like a Kamikaze back an through our apartment and crashed in to a couple of paintings and once in the window, it didnt get hurt though, probably because it was drunk

  28. since yeast expands it would have ruptured the bird's stomach, thus coming out of the orifaces that the stomach and intestines are connected to. im thinking he was just writhing in pain or its lungs were being asphyxiated by the enlargement of the stomach.

  29. rofl cool!! lol
