"Wordless"

A subtle song

in the back

of my mind,

a song you sang

for me.

Your unfading garden

breathed

its last,

leaving me

with thoughts of

amarantine kisses in solitude,

your whispers in my ear

a celestial melody

tearing me apart,

bringing new life.

now it's gone.

Unhallowed ground,

a shallow grave;

not what you deserved,

but what you wanted.

How can I lay

inspiration to rest?

I can offer no words,

because you

owned them all.

My beautiful muse,

I stand at your grave,

I stare at our memories...

my eyes remain dry.

A subtle song

in the back

of my mind,

a requiem for love,

for you.

  1. This is the feeling I believe many of us have been having of late... the death of our muse... I must say, though, when something dies another rises, in birth, to take its place... it may just take some time for it to do so...

  2. wow, ya.

    life giving deep red kisses...

    im wordless now.

but i dont understand the line

    'but you wanted'

    and then your dry eyes..

no sadness? or its just speechless suspension?

maybe im just trying too hard to understand what im missing.

  3. Who shot your muse?

  4. yes..  often when I am overburdened  by life's essentials.  Your  requiem has just the right touch of sad.

In geology overburden is the earth or ground  over an ore bearing  deposit.

In your poem it seems like both poet and muse are overburdened ...buried under soil and  or grief.

  5. You have taken a courageous stance here, at the heights of passionate intensity, and just inches away from the precipice of melodrama. And you manage to remain steadfastly eloquent. Nice! And I learned a new word!!
