  1. Yes to a pensioner on more than one occasion, because am kind.

  2. To my wife because she made me.

  3. I often give up my seat for the elderly and pregnant women, because its courteous.

I was often given a seat when I was pregnant and really appriciated it - Big time!!

  4. Absolutely.

Why ? I was raised that way, and I don't want my Mother coming out of the grave and boxing my EARS !!

A gentleman should yield his seat to ANY woman and all folks who are elderly or infirm.

A gentleman should ALSO politely point this out to little teenage punks (or punkettes) who chose to occupy the "elderly/disabled" reserved seats, and if they fail to move, said gentleman should resort to his Naval Officer voice and direct them to remove their worthless, ungrateful, god-less little BUTTS from the seats before I put my size 13's UP their backsides.

  5. Yeah, sure, whenever somebody seems like they might find it unpleasant to be standing for whatever reason - carrying a lot of stuff, injury, disability, advanced age, hugely pregnant, babies and toddlers in tow, whatever....

  6. Courtesy is what I was thinking of

  7. Regularly.  The only thing puts me off is on the tube when I stand up for a women/lady and they say 'No thanks' leaving me standing looking like a dork.   Ladies, if I stand for you, please accept my seat.  Thank you.

  8. Yes to the disabled.

  9. Yes i have. As i work on the busses i find it more natural to stand up in them than sit down, plus when an person is helpless it gives me the oppertunity to speak with the driver.

  10. I do all the time and so do my kids, if the person is old frail, pregnant, disbaled or there is someone who looks absolutely knackered and they could do with a sit down.

I do it because I find it polite.  I would like to think that someone would do it for me if I ever needed it.

If someone is in a worse situation than you, then why wouldn't you offer them a seat?

Manners cost nothing.  I have taught my kids to give up their seat if someone needs it more than them.  But I have met many parents with their kids who have refused a frail old person or a heavily pregnant woman a seat, the parents excuse!  my kids paid for a ticket on this bus so therefore they get to sit down.  Rude

  11. Yes, an elderly couple.  They looked a bit tired/winded, and I was taught to respect my elders.

I've also done it for people with young children and those who at least appear to be pregnant (as I was for the aforementioned incident).

  12. yes quite a few times, twice to a pregnant lady and a couple of times to elderly people

  13. I was on the tube last week and gave my seat to a heavily pregnant lady.. I don't think she was expecting it. Got lots of thanks!

  14. yeah i did in a bus, because these old pple got on the bus and there were no seats and all my scul friends stood up to give them seats so i had to coz everyone was lookin at me to do the same
