i went to an outside party a couple months ago and my flip flop broke so i went barefoot the rest of the evening

Yes. Several times.

Last summer I had been invited to a cookout one summer weekend. The hostess was a hippie-type, living in a Bohemian part of town. I had been barefooting around all day, at the Farmers Market & several other places. Went barefoot to the grocery store to get a dessert to contribute, then went to her house. The hostess was barefoot, & the other guests had doffed sandals & were barefoot too.

And a couple months ago, a barefooting e-pal I'd met thru the Dirty Sole Society (nka the Society For Barefoot Living) was in town visiting her cousin, & invited me for a picnic dinner. Her cousin answered the door & seemed a bit puzzled briefly when I arrived, then saw my bare feet, laughed & said I must be the Madison barefoot friend.

And other cook-outs as well. Anything out in the yard & in the summer will probably be Bare Feet OK.
