Two Steps Back

Beware of those who don’t conform

Stay in line follow the norm

Comply with all their expectations

It’s worked for many generations

If you stand out or speak of change

You’ll be labeled as deranged

Don’t bother with a creative thought

Your sure to see it’s all for naught

Man has done all he can do

He doesn’t need ideas from you

If it can it has been done

Every good trick under the sun

So if you think of something new

Bury it away share it with few

Here’s a clue a hint an inkling

No one cares what you’re thinking

  3. Very nice poem, but I care what you're thinking. It takes a stronger person to step out of the norm, than to choose to blend in with the crowd.

  5. I find the majority is often construed as the norm and that's a crop of cow p**p. I want to be uniquely me. I don't want to conform, I want to be informed. If there were a revolution today I would probably support it.

    If the title of your poem relates to the meaning of the poetry it represents then it is accurate in its description of steps backward. Words said and unsaid shape the world... we just have to find a way to get the world to read them without someone dying over them.

    As far as the poetry is was again well written, as I have come to expect from you.

  6. Yes many times.It is what is called growth.I have been doing it my whole life.One step forward, two back, two steps forward, one back.Three forward, one back.I call it the Cha-cha -cha of life.I have been dancing my whole life,but boy do I have rhythm.

Not to this extent...incidentally TD Euwaite has once again come to the wrong conclusion.  Rest assured that I am not lano, but his choice of an analogy says it all -- it's pure bread and circus games.  You know guys, I've got nothing against anyone trying to make a buck, but hey, the hucksterism of your Martian offerings is not poetry!  TD, you posted a very fine villanelle earlier, but why do you write all of this other swill.  Is that what you want to be remembered for?  I fully expect there will be derisive satires galore on all of this, but fellow, Swift you aren't.  Perhaps that capitalization is superfluous but we'll let it stand.  Hydropro, you might want to consider that what you customarily post also speaks of a certain set of expectations.  Are they not now the norm, and are you instead speaking of yourself.  Just something to ponder while you are standing up for something that does not deserve to be saved.

    But I do not see this solo to poetry, as a couple answers here lead me to believe your read. It is just a fact of life, since time began. We all take this risk when we go out on a limb. But isn't it a joy if we find just

    one that is on the same page. The man of Jesus knew this best.

    most of my ideas are kind of strange,

    and Yes they have gone bad -- like sour milk..
