have you has=d problems crossing the border ever? Why?

once coming back to Canada from US in the "old days" ....  just had D.L. , my healthcard and "voters card" in Ontario at that time.  This customs guy who spoke punjab perfectly but english could just barely understand insisted none of this  proved I was Canadian.  It took a while to explain how it is I could vote if not a citizen but he said "next time you want to come in my country have your birth certificate".

No, I haven't, yet. Also because I have never crossed it before.

I am in California and I have no intention of going to Canada at the moment. :)

Only issue I've ever had was having to pay duty on all the stuff I was bringing back home!

once. me and my friend were going to Darien Lake with our boyfriends, they asked us about 10 times if we knew the guys. It didn't bug us. we appreciatged them caring whether we were being kidnapped or not.  What angerfed me was when they popped the trunk and searched us (that wasn't the bad part) the part I hated was when we got to Darien Lake to set up the camp site everything was out of it's bag and in a huge pile in the trunk.  They were so inconsiderate.  I guess they don't have time to fix stuff but they didn't have to be so messy

EDIT: wait I lied. another time the guy was asking our purpose we said to go shopping he goes "what they don't have stores in canada?"  ugh! not the store I want. lol.  It always seems to be the US guards who cause all the problems.

I have had a couple of not very courteous discussions with border officials when going into the US on business, and a very courteous and extremely thorough search of the car coming into Canada. [ We think the search was because it was right before Christmas and we had nothing to declare. We now ceremoniously buy a second hand book to display.]
