Have you ever had this thought?

Whenever I used to see foreign people who live in a dictatorship type country burn the American flag, I used to think. How can people blame America because they don't have running water, or electricity, or food or jobs or whatever. Why can't they see their own government oppresses them.

and now that gas is over $4 a gallon. I see people pointing all kinds of fingers at who/what is the cause?

Did George W. Bush ever make you drive a car to work even though its only a half mile away? Has Obama ever asked you to encourage companies to manufacture everything we consume to another company and then send it back here? Has McCain ever influenced any of the choices you make about what you do for work and what you consume?

Our system that allows people to concentrate on doing one sort of work and then via currency trade it for others, creates an efficiency that allows lots and lots of wealth to be created.

But it also allows people to take advantage of you by taking your currency away from you.

Currency is a representation of goods/wealth produced. and it is leaving our country by the trillions in oil and by trillions from cheap goods made in other countries that buy nothing from us in return. Until they have enough money to buy your companies, and your highways and then your houses.

But I see people driving a car 2 blocks to get a gallon of milk. Or wearing I love America T-shirts made in India. I see people paying $200 / lb for tobacco of $50 gallon for alcohol, but still will buy a cell phone and get a little high from thinking they saved $10 bucks on a chinese made cell phone.

If you are an average American, you make poor choices with money. You wait in line to hand the wealth of our nation to foreign people. Who don't like Americans btw. You cannot conceive of voting for anyone else other than a Republican or Democrat, and still complain that they are a bunch of lying crooks. You let the TV convince you that you should never feel a moments lonliness or discomfort, and buy all sorts of things to divert you from boredom.

So whose flag do you burn? If you took a look at all the things you bought in your life, could you say it was good for Americans? Do you make it easy or difficult for foreign nations to grab our nations wealth like a bunch of pirates. Are your clothes made by an American? Was your computer? Can you find one product on your desk that was made in America (the desk probably was)? I am ashamed to say I was a typical American for a long time. But im trying to do better

If Americans worked together and looked out for each other, we could solve all of our problems. But it takes a little time and effort, and unselfishness.

If a leader asked you to work together, would you? Or do you want someone else to work hard to give you what they tell you are cheap goods at low low prices? If someone on the radio tells you its someone else that makes you drive a car and burn through foreign oil, will you burn a flag in the streets?

  1. No, I can honestly say that never crossed my mind. Thinking is always good.

I admire your good intentions and idealism but regret your misunderstandings. The real problem is elsewhere. Capitalism has no nationality my friend

  2. Way to go there. I have been reading labels more and more. I do not drive unless I have to, I bundle my chores to save gas. I have started buying products that support sustainable agriculture. Trouble is the money brokers stack the deck by keeping what they want affordable we don't help any by demanding high wages every-time things get expensive, we price ourselves out of work. Greed has taken over and no, it is not the governments doing it is us doing it to us. We all need to take a time out and regroup.
