Being a teetotaler , I was quite regularly "used" as a taxi for family members , as they were quite often got very , very drunk indeed ('blootered'). Drunk people are great back-seat drivers , they tell you when to brake , they tell you when to speed up , they are (or become) very abusive..... I could not be a taxi driver as a living , with total stranger drunks in my car.

  1. yes

  2. Yes I glad they were not sick but I had a bucket with me in case

  3. Yea. Myself on numerous occassions.  You cant count on nobody to be ready to leave when you are ready to leave.  So, leave on your own.

  4. I'm waiting for the phone to ring at 8:30pm to tell me to come and fetch my wife from the office party!

    That'll be fun!

  5. no and i hope i never get to drive a drunk person home anyway.

  6. I used to do it all the time due to my job. I am a driver for a living and used to start at 4am. When I was single we used to go out 5 nights of the week and with my early start time it was better to go out and drive then go straight to work rather than try to struggle out of bed at 3:30 am.

Anyway it was a nightmare when everyone was pi$$ed and acting like hyperactive 5 year old kids. I remember my mates falling about the back and front seats screaming to go to get a pizza or head of to some birds house they met but had no idea where she stayed.

I take my hat off to weekend taxi drivers for putting up with it all from drunken total strangers never mind people that you know well.

  7. Funny you should ask that i mean im not a teetotaller but dont go out very often, my dad takes great advantage of this and i now take him to and from the pub every weekend. Only since ive been doing this have i noticed how annoying drunk people are. They constantly repeat themselves and slur their words.

  8. yeah..she just kept laughing and screaming..thank goodness she has vomitted while we were still at my bfs house..lol

  9. Taxi drivers get some stick from all walks of life, but the police  everywhere rely on them to clear the drunks from town centres at chucking out or chucking up time.

At least if the wife/hubby asks to be picked up by you they won`t be abusive or also topped with drugs and they are not likely to attack you.

  10. I think you have to be cruel to be kind - if they continue to be rude and obusive when you pick them up - tell them you are not going to be a taxi for them anymore. It's not fair. Personally I'd probably stop the car a mile from home and tell them they can walk the rest of the way if I was treated that way!

  11. my hubby tells me how to drive when hes had a few,he tells me when to pull out at junctions..all i can say is its a good job he wasnt driving!!!!

  12. I was a taxi driver near Guildford, Surrey, for six months including Christmas and New Year, so yep, I've had drunks on board. I don't recall any problems though - but then I am 6'4" and built to match!

I believe that most drunks are glad of the lift - I certainly am when I'm a fare.

  13. Yes I have in the past, but I wouldn't do it now, not for anyone.

  14. nopes i have not i cant drive lol i had to phone my dad :)
