Question:

Have you ever had to re-write a resignation letter?

I handed in a resignation letter this morning and my boss made me re-type it. I had addressed it to her but she wanted me to also address human resources and HER boss. I wasn't aware I had to do this. I was just following the format I usually do when I have to hand in letters of notice. Have you ever had to do this? It seems bizarre that she made me go back to my computer and type this out again (I had typed it on my home computer originally).

  1. nope.

hilarious.  just another reason why u are leaving.

  2. YOu didn't need to do this. Your boss was being spiteful.  You could have just turned and walked out. She isn't your boss any more. Or next time, start at Human Resources and skip the boss. /

  3. she is probably just pissed off ignore her

  4. It seems bizarre to me as well. Her copy machine must be out of order, I guess.

But you're leaving anyway and you want to part on good terms. Leaving a job badly can follow you throughout your career so take care to do what they ask and be cordial.

    Hope this is helpful!

  5. You made a right choice resigning :)

I had experience sending resignation letter three times this year to my immediate superior before because the company owners saw that my performance is good and they tried to talk over the possibility of making me stay. But all three resignation letters were addressed to my immediate superior.

  6. Funny, but no. I can see why you are leaving.

  7. She was just trying to be a pain....If I were you, I wouldve left it as is....what is she gonna do? write you up? lol.

  8. I just did - by request I had to change the effective date.

Not a problem. Honey, you're leaving. Let it go.
