Have you ever had trouble with your passport?

I was coming home from Australia, got to Hawaii, in the middle of the night. There was something going on with my USA passport, they did not want to let me on the plane to go home. Of course they would not say what was going on. I was afraid I would miss my plane . I guess they could not find anything bad enough to keep me there so I ran to the plane. This was all several yrs. before 9-11. when I got home I contacted the passport office to see if there was trouble. Received a letter back saying they could not find any thing. Boy was I sweating it! I'm born & raise in the USA. Horrible to think I could not get back into my country.

Nope. Perhaps in your case, there was another person with a similar name who was not allowed to enter the US. After the investigation, they found out it wasn't you but someone else. Of course, they won't tell you the issue was for the fear that you may escape.
