I had it happen a few days ago, so far they've used it for over $500 worth of gas in Florida. (I live in NC)

Has this happened to you? What's your story?

  1. It's never happened to me, but I know that it's a real headache, this is called identity theft, you have to file a police report and then take it to your bank. the down side is that the banks always treat you like you overspent and now you don't want to pay your bills. I recommend that you buy identity theft insurance. I only know of Zander Insurance selling that product. If you get your id stoles they assign a person to handle your case from beginning to end, you have to do virtually nothing. They're great!

  2. Yup, it happened to me. File a police report so you can give a copy to your bank and get your money back.

  3. yes!  soda pop is right..........i wrote checks to pay for my monthly bills and mailed them in the postal box at my apartment.  someone broke into the boxes and took all the mail..............they used my checks to copy and print more and i was in the thousands !!!!  luckily i contacted my bank immediately upon learning of the robbery.  the theives were never caught but my bank paid for all the funds that had come out of my account.....

  4. nope so far i have been lucky

  5. its has happened to me.... im not telling you the story. all im saying was that it was a big headache... but my bank handled everything.

  6. It happened to my parents, but they stole real stuff from them too, and they used their credit cards in stores, so they just told the post office that it didn't come to their house, and we got all of our money back.
