Have you ever harm a lizard?

I did. I threw a bucket over it. I wanted to drag it outside of my room. I thought the small lizard would climb up the walls of the bucket. It didn't. In the end, it's tail dropped off, and his right hand and leg were crushed and it looked frightened and tortured and badly injured. Then it ran away.

I didn't mean to harm it at all. Really, I am so remorseful.

  1. no please be nice to animals

  2. Funny Tom mentioned that because I just helped my cat catch a lizard (he must be from So Cal too) and then rescued it after being let go and caught and let go and caught and let go and caught so that it could hopefully learn to avoid my cat in the future.  I feel kind of bad but my cat sure didn't.

  3. At least it wasn't on purpose! When I was around 5 years old, I did something worse (but didn't mean it to be): I threw almost an entire litter of kittens, that my grandmother kept, down a hillside, one by one, to see if they would land on their feet! (they didn't). I was always doing experiments, to prove or disprove what adults told me--I loved science!

I think the kittens survived, but my grandmother was furious!

  4. Well, Lizards Can Grow Their Tails Back Fast. I Know That For A Fact. But I'm Not Too Sure About Hands And Feet. Poor Lizard. I'm Pretty Sure That The Hands And Legs Were Fine Though. He Probably Was Just Temporarily Hurt. Becuase If A Bucket Can Hurt Him, He'd Have No Chance In The Wild Against Birds,Big Insects, Other LIzards, Or Anything. I Still Feel Bad For It Though. Oh And It Will Definately Live. Even If You Hurt It, It Still Can't Die From That Minor Shock. Well, Of Course There Is A Chance Of Big Animals Eating It But That's Out Of Your Hands. Lol. Jk.

Ps: Don't Worry About It. I've Accidently Harmed Sooo Many Bugs And Reptiles When I Was Little That I've Lost Count. If I Were To Guess It Would Be About 200 Lives I've Accidently Taken. But I Really Didn't Mean To. I Was Little And Got Excited When I Saw A Reptile Or Bug. I Never Hurt Anything Cute And Furry Though. That's Gotta Count For Something.

  5. I once had a pet king snake.  I'd catch lizards to feed him.  Technically, it was the snake that harmed the lizards but since I caught and gave them to the snake it was ultimately me that harmed them.  Anyway, I've seen lizards grow back tails.  They have an adaptation where they can deliberately shed their tail to help them avoid predators and it will regrow, but not be exactly the same as it was before.  That's probably what happened to your lizard.  As far as his hand and leg I'm not sure.  I've heard stories, folklore, about lizards growing back other limbs, however everything I've been able to find out on-line indicated that they only regrow tails.  In your case, the hand and leg weren't detached so how well they heal will depend on how badly crushed they were.

  6. I would feel the sames way if I did that to a lizard. I hope that it will live.It probaly will. Was there any blood? Lizards can regenerate limbs you know. Poor lizard. =(

  7. Yes i have i steped on one by accedent and it tail came off.

  8. lizards heal up pretty quick, my cat's keep catching the same alligator lizard over and over again, (stupid lizard I guess) and beat him up pretty bad, I take him and put him in a place outside where the cat's cant get to him and in about an hour he's gone, havent seen him in a while, maybe due to winter, hopefully he wised up though!
