  1. Yes. I saw an episode of Dirty Jobs on the Discovery Channel where Mike Rowe was painting the bridge and doing maintenance on the inside of the supports.

  2. Yes I have.  And I've visited.

  3. Yes.  Great Hotel.

Hasen't everybody in US hear of it?

Isn't there something about walking across a bridge - a once a year sort of celebration?

  4. http://www.mackinacisland.org/

  5. Nope I've never heard of it.  But for some strange reason I've been there for fudge.  My family also has our last name on one of the marble posts at the Cross in the Woods in Indian River Michigan.  Wow People actually live on Mackinaw Island?  I haven't been there since I was young so I never thought about what it would be like living there or if people did.  I didn't know they even had jobs up there.  Heck it is used to be cold enough in the Detroit area.  I grew up on an Island too.  It was great for night fishing.  We didn't catch much but it was the freedom that we enjoyed.  Oh yeah I never heard of sleepy bear dunes or the beer falls either.

  6. Yes, I have heard of Mackinac Island.  It is in Lake Huron, isn't it?  I know that there is a state park there, that the permanent population of the island is not very high - maybe only 600 or so people, and if I remember correctly there are no cars on the island??
