Have you ever heard of a dirt dog?

my mom's friend told me that they live in fertile soil, that her aunt use to garden and showed her one when she was a kid. she said it looked like an earth worm but it had eyes and arms and legs and lil fingers, like kind of lizardish but smaller like an earth worm and a soft brown wormy looking body. well anyways i couldnt tell if she was jus' tryna creep me out or not. ugh my skin is crawling just thinkin about it. ever seen a creature like this?

It sounds like a salamander to me. This one is a Oregon Slender Salamander.

When I was a child I heard lots of stories about strange creature I never could find. The dirt dog does sound familiar.
