Have you ever heard of a domesticated rabbit digging a burrow to deliver babies in?

She was purchased in a pet store. During the day, the kids put her in an outside pen and bring her in every night. She dug a burrow and delivered her babies in it. She won't let anyone near the babies. We are afraid for their safety and want to move them indoors. Any suggestions?

  1. Digging a burrow is instinct to the rabbit. They should be fine with her in there. They will stay warm, she is just protecting her kids. I would leave her alone because if she gets really annoyed then she might eat the babies. I know that is disturbing but it can happen and it happens often if the mother is not used to you. If possible I would leave her out with the babies.

  2. No suggestions.

You need to leave them where they are.

Just leave the pen over the top with a water bottle and food, and she'll be fine.
