Have you ever heard of a job that makes you stay confined to your home while out sick?

I had surgery a little over a week ago and I'm out for 8 weeks. Unless I have a Dr's appointment or need to go to the pharmacy, I'm forbidden from leaving the house for any reason. If I do, my job would be in Jeopardy. Is this legal? (I'm in FL, the 'right to work' state, where they can pretty much get away with anything.)

  1. I am going to guess they dont believe you.  If you want to pursue it, I dont think that is legal.

I got wrote up working at a gas station.  I called in sick, DID go to the doc the evening before.  My manager drove by my house and my car wasnt there because my cousin (who I lived with) had borrowed it.  She didnt even knock on the door.  I missed one shift, came into my next shift with the note from the doc, and still got wrote up.  It was a c**p job and I quit 2 weeks later, worked there a total of  5 weeks, so I didnt bother pursueing the issue.

  2. Yes, especially if you are being paid while you are off.  And even more if you are on "Worker's Comp".  I know for a fact that they also have their little "spy's" that watch so beware if you think you get out and go out and about because they first time you slip up not only will they cut off your paycheck or Worker's Comp but they also may have the grounds to fire you.  It's a rough rode to go down but they do it to protect themselves and you.  I went through it, trust me.  Please trust me, what they are saying and doing is very legal.

    Peace & Love  :)
