Have you ever heard of a swimming pool with Salt Water in it? Do these cost more? What are they like?

I would like a small swimming pool in my backyard. I have not decided whether to get an inground or an above-ground pool.

A friend mentioned swimming pools with 'salt water' systems?

What's this all about? Do they make them?

Are they cheaper and easier to maintain? That would certainly be a bonus. I would love something that is less costly and less time consuming to maintain.

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks

  1. my opinion since i own a pool company yes they are   harder to maintain because they are harder to keep the chemicals balanced salt water pool have to have a content of at least 1500 ppm or they get algea and that is harder  to get rid of then a chlorine pool

  2. My friend had a salt water pool put in several months ago.  It is a regular pool, the salt is added.  She has had a pool before, and she thinks this is much easier to maintain.  The water is not nearly as salty as the beach.  In fact, the kids swim with their eyes open all the time.  Most pool dealers can tell you about these.
