Have you ever heard of blackberry juice cobbler?

My great grandmother use to make it and I absolutely loved it. Everyone I ask, though, has never heard of it. I've also searched the Internet for recipes (hoping to find one similar to my grandmothers) but haven't had any luck.

It's cobbler, but it doesn't use any whole blackberries...just the juice. It's only about an inch thick. The bottom was moist and sweet, but the top was golden and like it had sugar sprinkled on top...I think. It's hard for me to remember. Have you ever had blackberry juice cobbler? Have a recipe for it? If you do, care to share?

  1. This sounds good, so I'm going to go look for a recipe.  My neighbor has blackberry bushes that seem to like my yard too, so I have access to those juicy cousins of my favorite, the raspberry.

  2. It really does sound like some type of bar cookie or maybe a kind of non chocolate brownie.  Are you sure she used juice?  Perhaps she used like a jelly or pulpy seedless jam?  Sounds interesting though.  Do you have any idea where she got the recipe?  Perhaps she put it together herself?   What ethnic group did she belong to?  Maybe it is an ethnic dish of some sort.

  3. you know i think ive actually had this before when i went to europe.

i dont have the recipe but im assuming if, instead of using blackberries use some blackberry juice right over the cobbler base so its well saturated, and 'cover" it with dough, place it in the oven. basically use any cobbler recipe only insted of making filling, let the base of it soak up the juice. when done sprikle it with sugar/powdered sugar.

  4. It sounds like it'd be more like a bar cookie than a true cobbler.  You might be able to just do any bar cookie, and use blackberry jelly.
