Have you ever heard this, "dieing goldfish"?

I thought I'd heard it all when it comes to bizarre goldfish husbandry, until today...

Darkly coloured comets are going to die....

Yes, this included shubunkins, "wild types" (grey/brown) and any with black markings.

This woman claimed that she "reads it on the internet all the time".

Have you ever heard this? Or have you heard anything more odd sounding?

  1. Sometimes a fish may develop an internal infection, it turns darker and dies. So if a fish suddenly turns dark coloured, thats a bad sign.

But naturally dark coloured fish are just that, dark coloured fish.

  2. Goldfish are pretty much nothing more then carp. Carp are a dirty brown/grey coloration. Goldfish were originially bred by the ancient chinese to be pond fish, and it was then that colorations such as gold and white were bred in to them.

So she is telling us that the natural goldfish would die, but the creation bred by man would live? HMM.....

I also read on the internet that bigfoot is wandering around Oregon, and UFOs are going to land tomorrow! Better watch out!!! ;)

  3. its dyeing goldfish and yes i have dont do it all im going to say

  4. well all goldfish are going to die.. (duh?)

  5. ehhhhh???..LOL..

  6. I think the woman has had too much pond water.  Goldfish/koi even in the wild can sometimes have coloration.  Not all are grey/brown.  This depends highly on their diet and living conditions.  Although many breeders use genetics to aquire specific color patterns.

A koi or goldfish will turn black due to ammonia poisoning healing not because they are dieing.

Don't believe everything you read on the net.  SOme people will write anything just to get attention.
