  1. Well i agree with your method. Sorry i don't have time to read the site, but i will when i can.

I use a hackamore on my horse, and am switching to a natural bit-less bridle as soon as i can find one, they don't sell them where i live, and my horse came with the hackamore. She rides western, and i usually am barefoot, or with sneakers. I will never us a whip on her, or a spurs. And she listens just fine. But she does need to work on a few things like, not walking when I'm getting on. And Listing to me better outside an enclosed arena. She loves to trot outside those things, and its hard to hold her back.

    lol

  2. I've heard of it, but I don't particularly like it.

Yes the idea of it is great, but no one who participates in that is open minded. The site has all the negative points of regular training and none of the good.

When I work with my horse, my horse is not aloud to be "in control", there not upset and I don't push them all that hard. Now whats so wrong about that? I demand respect, but I'm not going to be abusive about it. I lead with a halter for safety reasons, horses out weight us by close to 1,000 pounds and even if a halter wont control them at all times, heck I would much rather have it on than have no control at all.

his horses don't even look to happy, if half the pics they have there ears back....hello that's what he complains about half the time that the horses "aren't happy".

And bits, yes they can do damage in the wrong hands, but I don't touch my horses mouth unless I for some reason need to. I'm not ripping the reins and I ride with very light hands.

oh and if I'm so terrible for using a bit, understanding that my horse is much bigger than me, and actually *gasp* asking my horse to work, who oh who do both my horses come running up to me when there in the paddock? Why will they leave there food to great me? Why are there ears up when i ride them or work with them?

hummm I guess I just have their trust, and I used normal methods to get it!

  3. good luck with that

  4. i havent heard of you but i like wat your doing. i am seriously against whips and i try never to punish my horse unless hes being rlly bad. i like to think the horse is always right too. keep up the good work!!!

  5. I have heard of them and like what they want to do in theory. However I think they are at the extreme end of things. Their feelings about other training methods seems to be that they feel that they are all WRONG.

I think that Pat Parelli and Clinton Anderson methods of training are just fine and that they do not think that any other natural horsemanship training is very worthwhile worries me. I would say that they are a bit extreme in their views, even if some of them have merit.

  6. Theoretically you are right with your method.

Tho training horses when they are young and learning them to deal with a saddle isn't always easy.

It's not that I am always right but neither is the horse.

You watched the olympic games in Bejing?

Those horses are taken care of like they are kings. But when the time comes for them to perform and they don't they get whipped to. Or they get poked with spurs.

There is ofcourse always a line between correcting them when they do something wrong and just hitting them for your own pleasure.

  7. Yes and in my opinion is highly idealistic, but hardly practical.  In spite of the high regard I hold horses, I never forget that they are much larger than me with big teeth, sharp hooves and enormous strength.  Even after being bred and domesticated for generations they retain the flight instincts of all herd animals.  And no matter their deep affection, mutual trust or humane training, they can still kill you very easily if frightened.  You cannot control EVERY condition so you MUST be able to control the animal.  If you have ever had to deal with a horse in extreme pain then you know that there is no amount of reason and training that can keep them from hurting themselves or others.

Sorry I can't agree.  It would be nice if we could exist in a place where this would even sound practical to me.

  8. This is a good way to create a dangerous horse, and that is about all it is.  New age fad nonsense which comes from people trying to make a buck off of training horses when they simply do not have a clue as to the damage their methods will actually cause to the majority of horses, once those methods are put into place.

I am VERY tired of retraining horses that someone else have failed to teach respect to.  The people pushing this technique are the type that think "Horses do not have the ability to be mean."  Well let me tell you that no one who has ever witnessed a stallion intentionally trying to kill someone would ever even think about making that claim.  In fact no one that even half way knows horses would make that claim.  THE HORSE IS ALWAYS RIGHT!  WHAT!!!!!!????????  Who came up with this?

Sorry but I am not a happy camper right now.  This may work fine for the arena where the horse really does have limited options.  Take one of these horses out on the trail and sooner or later you are going to get hurt.

Thumbs down me if you want but I have too many injuries from fixing other peoples mistakes to care.
