Riddle Chains

She held a chain to some dark secret

Not her own she wished to leave it

But in her care it had been place

So disrespected and replaced

Another day another lifetime

A chance to dance into the nighttime

A tangled charm in fragile grasp

And a name upon the clasp

Diamond fears to match her eyes

And in her fear more dreams died

A morbid hope and desperate longing

To run away and abandoning

All the times she thought she knew

Yet in those times the secret grew

To give away all her glass heart

But she had handed every part

To anyone who would so choose

To take a piece but then refuse

To give back a single shred

Of love and care to one half dead

A mallet so to break the chain

A wish to be a child again

She held a chain to some dark secret

Not her own she wished to keep it

Your thoughts on the poem would be welcom...

Blessed Be, Siren in Shade

  4. I like it.....wow...it was good. :)

  5. This is a lovely and effective poem.  I love the twist in the repetition at the end of the first two lines.  I am fascinated as to what this dark secret could be.  The wish to be a child again speaks of a longing for innocence.  It seems to me that the enigma is why do you now want to hold on to that secret, "to keep it", and yet want to be that child again? I do love the poem.  Thank you.

  6. Its great. You must make writing a  part of your life.

  7. I must ask is this 'she' a Siren or one that holds Siren's secret chain? Either way this is a powerful poem... and it is nice to see you back in poetry!

  8. A bubbling, boiling secret is held.  What could it be?  The poem causes the reader to wonder.  The price she pays for the secret is high.  Oh to be rid of it ...  Well written poem, very intriguing.
