have you ever invested $100,000 or more of ***your own*** money? Not some one else's, buy yours. (please don't answer this if the answer is no, thx!)

If so, where and how did you invest it? Do you feel you made a wide choice? If so, why?

Thanks folks!

  1. Yes, I have put money into my own business.  With some regret.  I put 180,000 into a so-so business.  I think I ended up biting off more than I could chew in the long run and would have come out much better on another type of investment.  It is the old saying never invest in something you do not fully understand.  Bigger is not always better.  Lesson learned.

  2. Yes

I have done stock purchases in excess of $100 thousand

It was a # of years ago

    when stocks were cheap

so I had no qualms about it

I knew it was a good buy

    As for today

I will still do purchases of stock in excess of that amount

    for the purposes of trading

I am quite comfortable with the dealings I do

  3. Many people have 6 figure portfolios.  Especially those that have been thru the bull markets of the 80's & 90's.  Do I feel I made a wise choice??  Of course, my portfolio is up several times more than I put into it.

I mainly buy mutual funds.  But I also have individual stocks.  Bought my company's stock back in the 80's & sold it last year for 20 times what I bought it for.  Shoulda bought alot more than I did.  Oh well, hindsight is 20/20.
