Have you ever kissed the Blarney stone as a child?

But can't do it now?

I now have a fear of heights that I didn't have as a child. I wouldn't dream of climbing up those steps and putting my head backwards now. lol

  1. Yes and ever since then People keep telling me to stop talking?  Seriously I have kissed the blarney stone and it was a great experience to have been part of a tradition that has been going on for many many years :)


  2. My mother kissed it when she was pregnant with me - she didn't know she was pregnant at the time. Go figure.

  4. I've kissed it twice as an adult, but never as a child. I wouldn't dream of bringing my children up there and depend on someone else to hold them out over the edge like that.

  5. :) my dad was from Cork and we used to go to Ireland for our summer holidays ever year and stay on my uncles farm....lovely memories! anyhoot, i kissed the Blarney stone when i was little and doubt very much i could do now....i have to say though, its definately given me the gift of the gab! i remember another year we went to see the moving statue of Mary....havent been back to Ireland for years but your question has brought back some lovely memories....have a star for cheering me up! x

  6. When i lived in cork as a child i was brought on a school trip to the blanery stone when i was small.  That will sadly be my first and last tome on me doing that.  I also have a fear of heights.

  8. I did it at the age of 24! I'm a bit afraid of heights too but it was fine. There are so many people up there that I really don't think there's any danger (unless someone decides to push you down!)

  10. No.  However, I am from across the pond.  But it is on my to-do list of things to do before my death as well as getting "smashed" with the locals.

    What is a good place to visit in Ireland where they wont mind an American drinking them under the table?  LOL
