Have you ever known someone like this?

I know someone who is obviously not happy. This person tries to get me mad to make me show that I'm miserable, too. I haven't given her a reaction in a long time because I know she would only do this to me if she's miserable herself. How would you deal with this type of person?

Thank you.

  1. I'd quit answering her phone calls and text messages. Misery loves company.

  2. I guess you can talk to her and tell her what she is doing. And if her reaction towards you is awakard tell her to kick rocks and just leave her alone. Try your best to stay away from her.

  3. Let me ask you something.  Do you have to deal with her?  If you don't, then move on.  Negative people are toxic, and if you suspect she is intentionally trying to get a reaction from you, you don't need her.

If she is a relative or someone you work with, than you are going to have to draw some boundaries and assert yourself so she respects them.  It will be difficult because she will not appreciate that you are respecting yourself, but in the end it will help you and maybe her too.  She will see your example and maybe, just maybe, she will learn from you as a positive person who values themselves.

Be positive and don't be afraid to call her out on her negativity.  As a matter of fact, you should make her take a look at herself.  It is not about you, it is about her.  And if you turn the mirror on her enough, maybe she will realize that she needs to make some changes in her life to be happy.

  4. I have known people like her. And I think you are handling her correctly already. Just don't give her a reaction that is all you can do. Don't let her bring you down to. You know the sane "Misery loves company". Don't do it she will only bring you down with her!

  5. I had a friend who used to do that.

    I'm no longer her friend.

Just ignore her, or talk to her about it.

    Tell her it's not right.

    Hope this helps!
