Question:

Have you ever made deep fried french toast?

On mothers day I had deep fried french toast at Copelands, it was awesome! The waiter said they used brioch bread. I have found some recipes online but wondered if any of you have any tips?

  2. No, it isn't something I have tried, but it would probably work.

  3. Be sure the oil is hot enough so that the toast will cook quickly and not soak up too much oil.

  6. Yes, I have tried it and I have made it by pan frying it over medium heat till golden (heat the peanut oil over high heat then reduce heat to medium and add the egg-soaked bread in the pan) and serve with butter and maple syurp!  It is very good for afternoon snack.

  8. I haven't tried it, but on an episode of Diners, Drive-ins and Dives... they featured deep fried french toast.

    It looked good.  Deep frying is just a way of cooking the french toast faster, but I can imagine the bread soaking up a little of the oil, crispin up the edges and tasting like an old-fashioned donut.... my fav!
