  1. Sure. I knew a club DJ  who also created house mixes for a local black radio station. His aka was DJ Wild Cherry.

Everyone who didn't know who he really was, thought he was a kewl, black man in his 20's.

In Actuality, he was an overweight, balding, white, g*y man in his 30's.

That's the beauty of being a radio D.J. .  You can spin records and create some hot tracks for thousands, even millions to enjoy and you don't have to be "Stereotyped", (no pun intended), or looked down upon because you don't fit some sort of cookie cutter preconceived notion of what a D.J. should look like.

Case in point, The Electro/Synthpop/Trance/Techno-Rave Duo known as Daft Punk. They dress up in Robot suits and for the past 10 years have hidden their true identity.  In reality they look like a couple of French girls. Although we know who they are, fans prefer the futuristic robot look, cuz it adds mystery and excitement to the act.

  2. Yes! Chris Rush from TOS.

I am a very visual person and I often try to put a face with voice, an email exc.. He didn't look anything like I had expected not that he looked bad because he didn't just different:)

Oh and the guy from BLM I saw him on a commercial once:)

  3. As they say...they have "the face for radio!"

  4. LOL at Jaycee.

I've been in radio for over 10 years and it still surprises me how other DJs really look in person.

  5. I haven't and I kinda don't want to cose a lot of these people who are famous in one way or another are not the people they show themselves to be. They are all sweet and lovely, but than they are not really, you know?!

  6. yep, several times. I like that now, most stations have pictures of their DJs on their websites. It gives me a realistic image to associate with the voice... and it is weird that a lot of people don't look like they sound. lol

  7. I dont know any dj's that are in real life as they are on the air.  Radio is really big on "theater of the mind".

  8. but the next morning she was ok with it.
