Question:

Have you ever met a male vegan (that is under age 18)?

I haven't. And I don't see many males posting on this section either. Why are most vegans females? I've known vegan females from ages 12 to 17, but can you imagine a male vegan that is a teenager? That seems very, very, unlikely.

  1. i never met one

  2. I'm a male vege-tarian in my 20's .. vegan? Well, can't give up on dairy products like ice-cream and pizza cheese :)

  3. Yes, I have.  I know one personally who is almost 6, but there are some male vegan teens on an online forum I belong to (not as many as the teen girls, though.)  Amongst the 20-somethings, though, it seems like the ratio starts to even out a bit more.

  4. I have 2 male friends who are Vegans. One is 17 and the other is 15 :) they're cool.

I think girls are more sensitive about these things - maybe love animals more, and men need more protein since they have more muscles than a woman. A woman could handle less protein. Also, there are more women than men on this earth - that could be another reason.

But I heard there were more male vegans and more female vegetarians..?

Look at this chart (there are voters)

    http://www.veggieboards.com/boards/showt...

  5. That is a huge assumption.  You can't go by what you see on here alone.  It is not unlikely that there are vegan teen boys.

Assuming makes an *** out of u & me.  ***-u-me.

  6. I'm a 19 year old vegan male teenager.

I have noticed there are more veggie girls than boys on this site.

I have never met a male vegan under 18.

I asked a question about this subject a while ago, have a look through my questions. I got some interesting answers.

  7. I haven't :(

I'm a teenager and finding a vegan yet a vegetarian male is impossible. Hopefully I'll find one some day :\

  8. Well, Im a male VEGATARIAN, and Im 17. I know you said vegan but ...

    =]

  9. My brother went vegan as a teenager.  I believe he was 14.  I think a couple of his male friends were also vegan.

  10. Yes I know quite a few, so i dont need to imagine a male teenager that is vegan. I don't know why you would think its unlikely for a male teenager to be vegan, maybe join your local vegan group or animal rights group, you may find a few! :)

  11. no! its sad too because people with tiny egos will make fun of you if your vegan but even more if your a vegan guy. cause i guess its not manly enough to have feelings :p

  12. My son has been a vegetarian since he was 7 years old.  His two best friends are also vegetarians.  They are the real talk of the lunch table @ school sometimes, from what I understand.  And, from what I have observed, his friends try to impress him sometimes by telling him what kind of meat they won't ever eat - a little twist on the macho thing.  The peer pressure / effect is very interesting with boys.

  13. Well I never met a male vegan in general. I've only "met"  a couple on this forum.

I have a question for you...Is "very, very, unlikely" a good thing?

    I hope so =]

  14. im a vegetarian but not a vegan :P

    im a male teenager

  15. yes, i met him a month ago, he's a special person =)

I'm italian, and here a male vegan under age 18 is very very very rare...

    Women are more sensitive.

  16. Vegans are vegan for many different reasons. Some think it's good for the environment, some think it's good for their health, some think (like me) that you shouldn't be apart of an institution that is cruel/kills animals. But as you are implying that free range = FREE RANGE then I'm afraid you are mistaken. I am going to assume you are young and haven't really read up on the subject; basically, Government rules on free range are abysmal. If you live in the UK you'll find lots of butchers/health food shops that will sell "Real" free range eggs. I don't trust them myself, but it would be a step in the right direction - if you really want to help the animals, take a quick drive into the country and there will be literally tens of small farms within 5 miles who'll be selling eggs - talk to the farmers and check if they send their chickens off to be slaughtered (in tiny vans with no a/c in the summer, and no heating in the winter), or if they kill the hens on site - which may sound harsh, but is both financially viable for them, and A LOT more humane for the hens.

I apologies for the length of the post.

    If anyone is still reading:

Can I just say that I've been vegan for 4yrs now and I only had enough patience to read up to "Orange" because frankly, the other questions made my blood boil. Everyone from "Heaven Lee" to "Greek lettering girl" ( ;) ) should be ashamed of themselves. Greek Lettering Girl actually attempted to explain, but the rest were just lame answers.

It's like they have no understanding about the reasons why vegan's make their choices.

If you can't READ and ANSWER the question, don't post! I say READ the question, because the guy said he'd been veggie, so he knows the definition of a (beep)ing vegan! This isn't dictionary corner!

  17. Several.

In fact I know more vegan males than I do female vegans (personally, that is). At least that are in the local activists group.
