Have you ever met someone who was too self-righteous to be really credible?

Absolutely, though i've found in later life, that if you pay enough attention to someone to know that about them, you're paying too much attention.  I actually have to do the mental equivalent of putting my fingers in my ears and saying 'la la la' to keep from reading into people.  It's had an amazing effect on my views of people.

Yes, I've found that usually, they're nuts.

Cynicism is alright to a point after which it becomes a negative complex. You want to watch out for that point or else you loose the ability to connect with the positive, or at the least taint all your judgement calls.
