  1. I don't think it has any effect really.Actually one effect...making the person you wish good look to feel a bit happier. But no other effect

  2. There is no such thing as "wishes" and "luck" or "good" or "you" or "someone"  If any of these things were real they could be seen by other people (I can't see you or someone so you must not exist) and furthermore if they were real someone would be able to provide evidence in a double blind scientific experiment that proved they existed and that would work 100% of the time. I hear some guy named Randi has a huge cash prize out if you can show him things that don't exist.

All you need to qualify is to have a media presence large enough (like Oprah) that a million dollars isn't worth your time.

So, how can "you" have "luck" since these things don't exist?

Also, if you think these things exist it's just confirmation bias because you only noticed them when you thought they existed but not the times they didn't exist.

  3. I have watched as a BINGO parlor went mad.  The winners sat beside on another...one right after the other...till it got to me.  Then it skipped to the man who sat across the table from me.  And ended up on the woman beside of me.  BUT not once will this stop at me.

I go to the Casino, and play 'leaver'.  I make my money by sitting to the right of my brother, or a friend, and let luck pass me by.  This is the only way I can cheat luck.  Let it think it is passing me up.

  4. How would you know if what transpired after the wish was luck, pure circumstance, or simply a result of preparation and planning?  In your question luck doesn't seem very well defined here for me. It's almost like a good luck wish is perceived as a magic spell. Anyhow, people will probably interpret the events following a "good luck" wish in terms of their own subjective beliefs.

Usually I think whenever I've wished someone good luck it was for something they've prepared for (a test, a fishing trip, etc.) in which case they usually did well. Not always, but usually. But that would not be unexpected.

  5. I've had both bad luck and good luck after being wished good luck.  The sentiment doesn't seem to have any sort of impact on the operation of the universe.  It's just business as usual.

  6. I HATE to be wished good luck at a casino.

It pisses off the gods of luck i think.
