  1. Yes, because even early on, primitive humans realized that men were from Mars & women were from Venus..

  2. Huh?

No, they tend to live together in family groups, which are part of larger groups.

Where did you get the idea that they are separate except when mating?

  3. You are right there are separate eating places for both genders in some countries, in some separate sleeping areas men's houses etc....perhaps its better in some respects.  A lot of the time it is for a fear of pollution or sapping male energy in male dominated cultures like in New Guinea etc.

  4. It's common, but it's not universal or even a majority. I think it's more common in Amazon tribes than elsewhere, as most African tribes are in extended family groups, and that's pretty much the norm for tribal societies.

Seperating unmarried youths and maidens is quite common though. Sticking all the adolescents in s*x seperated huts at night prevents a lot of problems.

  5. Wouldn't life be easier that way?  The men could keep to one side of the room with their video games and the women to the other side to talk about shopping.

Answer for Jackipi - Amazon's were women and women only.  Men were stolen for mating purposes and financial security.  Sort of like Donald Trump's wives.

  6. I have read that some Native Americans lived that way.  I am especially fond of the custom of the young marrying their elders.  A young man marries an older woman (most didn't live past 40) and a young girl marries an older man.  Then the older one dies the younger one is older and then marries a young one.  That way you have 2 marriages in a lifetime and you have someone to teach you when you are young. That way 2 young people don't have suffer being naive together.

  7. Thats not an accurate statement, there are loads of Egalitarian Hunter Gatherer bands where women and men work together to survive.

I suggest you read "The Foraging Spectrum" by Robert Kelly.  That will give you an idea as to the natural way of humans.

  8. I am curious if there are any hunters that are primarily female!

  9. That's not true.

Or else we would not have institutions like marriages, families, etc.

Men and women have always lived together. Whatever prompted this thought?

  10. no I don't think so.. which discovery channel programme did u notice it ?

  11. i dont think it's natural. i think they just do that so there won't b any suprises popping up all the time.

  12. It is very common.  The men hunt or are warriors.  Women tend to gather and do domestic duties.  Young women need to be protected and isolated to make better brides.  The marriages cement social bonds so are very important.  It is probably not natural to keep them separate but a consequence of the politics that make for stronger tribes.
