Yeah, His commentary are one sided .... As for him the Srilankans are the only best players.... He will always credit SL players.... The last tail ender batsman itself is a best batsman

I am an Indian so only I think like that.....

So I am not clear about their commentaries

(I want your opinion on their commentaries )

But I noticed that Dean Jones or Greg Chappel or others players commentry like that....

(Sorry If I hurt others feelings)

  1. Now whats the problem. Let him support, our team is winning na

  2. he doesn't have any sense what he is speaking.. and i hate Arun Lal as well...

one example what he says: Oh what a good shot, and he is caught.

    lol..

  3. Arun Lal always criticize umpire decisions

he must be kicked out of the box

    then

  4. Ya..Indian commentators are not like that..Ravi shastri,Harsha will remain neutral at any stage of the game..Tony grieg is another example for neutrality..

  5. More than anything else, his English is so annoying. He probably got a place in the commentary team - beacuse of quota system. As over the years, no one else has turned up for this job - he continued to be kept as lone Sri Lankan representative.

Being a little biased towards his countrymen is no crime - it's natural.

  6. yes i also feel like that i sure he is 101% one side and its shown in his commentary

  7. exactly! this is absolutely not done! i mean being a commentator he shud be neutral and not always one sided!

  8. i agree commentators should remain neutral irrespective of the countries they belong to.

  9. Every country has commentators like him

  10. Yes I do..... When a match against India , I think the batsman was Jayawardene was bowled by Irfan Pathan. It was an absolutely good ball which pitched in good length , outslde off stump and swing into him and hit his middle stump.

But his commentry was "It wasn't really a good delivery but He(Jayawardene) played a bad stroke and threw away his wicket"

I too an Indian, and so i too was not able comment on the Indian commentators.....

  11. lets be honest here, ALL former players that go into commentary, i mean in the case of guys like Ian Chappell and Mark Taylor, guys who captained they're country and would give everything for they're country, of course they will be biased, how could they not be, but i think its ok to be biased but only to a certain point, for example, i have seen mentioned on here by someone (Kook i think) about a commentator not being able to admit when a player from they're team was out, even when the replays CLEARY showed he was out, thats taking it to far

a commentator must be able to give credit where credit is due, even if its for a performance againist they're preferred side, now as much as i dont like to admit it, even a guy like Tony Greig will credit australian players when they do well, h**l even Bill Lawry can find it in him to praise a bloke who isnt victorian!! LOL

  12. Generally Australian commentatotors comment onesided. But Rameez Raja & Nazar Hussain support India allthe time even if their own country men are playing. I like them both.

  13. The present trend is the ex-cricketer turned commentator supports the home team and that's fair.

  14. I didn't know Indians will make big issues to every word a commentator says. However, Ranjit Fernando has always been a simple passionate commentator since 1996, when i heard him talk.

  15. I have noticed that, but most commentators are a little biased towards there own countries.

I agree with the user above who said Arun Lal is biased, i remember that he once said he cant believe how the umpire gave the batsmen out, when replays clearly showed the batsmen had nicked the ball. Even after seeing the replays Lal wouldnt admit that it was out.

Anyway there arent many non-biased commentators around the world, although Richie Benaud and David Lloyd are 2 extremely unbiased commentators.

So YES i agree with you, but its very common for a commentator to be biased towards his country (example Ian Smith)

  16. Michael Slater, Ian Healy, Mark Taylor and Sunil Gavaskar (sometimes) also have commentary thats one sided.

  17. Ranjith Fernando's  English is so worse that i mute the channel ,wenever he does the commentary

yea he keeps on bragging abt srilankan batting power and bowling

and also i hate it wen Jayawardene calls for the review whenever his stupid bowlers shout howzaat

    replt to cricket pet

whenever pakistan loose to india, u shud watch rameez raja face,he is like abt to cry and his face becomes black

  18. NO but generally commentrators will talk much better for the home country players with only Sanjay Manjrekar as exception

  19. Yep, most commentators are one sided - In Australia we have many. But the biggest stand out is Tony Grieg - He is so one sided for any team that plays against "Ooshtayleea" (his version of saying Australia) it is laughable. He should be banned he is that woeful. But unfortunately you will find this outwardly showing of one sidedness across most sport.

My biggest problem with most commentators though, is not their patriotism but their incessant need to relive their own past glories. Even if their glory days occurred over 30 or 40  years ago. "In my time of playing we did ..." Well Mr. Commentator, your day in the sun is over, move on. The game has evolved and you played that way in your day, it is not how it today!!
