  1. When you order food in a foreign country checking out other tables for appetizing food often is the only way to have any idea what you are ordering. Even if you can read the writing (and what can you do in Arabic or Asian countries), mostly it is impossible to say what all those cryptic names mean.

I have had mostly good experiences, and the ones that weren't make really good stories.

  2. Yes,better stick to what u perfer

  3. Yes, we do that on occasion and it's worked out ok so far.  To take it one step further, at hawker centers, order from the stall with the long queue, most of the time the queue is indicative of the quality of the food, once in a while you'll be unlucky and it's just a slow hawker :P

  4. No I didn't .

  6. If you are brand new to the type of food in a new culture... visual is almost the sure way to order the food.

  9. Yes. My friends and I will do that when we go to a new restaurant. Well of course we get some annoying faces who turn their heads away from their food to stare back at us. We'll just smile and do a thumbs up signal while looking at their food as if we're asking them if they would recommend what they are having. Usually they'll respond with a smile.

  10. Nope, I only eat what I kill myself!  Ever had rocky moutain oysters?
