  1. To my knowledge, panicking  is the major cause of drowning accidents. I hear stories of people drowning in 6 to 8 feet of water near a lake shore trying to save a dog or a family member. Nothing like that should even happen.

I dont consider myself a pro swimmer, but I do swim alone in a fairly large lake almost every day in the summer, and I do swim a long ways out, then swim back to shore. Longest swim for me was 5 hours. I dont advise anyone to do this that doesnt know their limits. Yes swimming alone can be deadly, and friends and family think I am crazy for doing so.  I think of that when I am out in the middle of the lake, but my main worry is not drowning by my own hand, its maybe having a heart attack or being hit by some moron jet skier or boat.

When you get tired from swimming, (dont panic) go on your back and do back strokes slowly, swimming in the direction you want to go. Stop every now and then and tread water (slowly). If that tires you out, just float. Then go back to swimming, and repeat. An average person in decent health can tread water for hours if the water is not too cold where you risk hypothermia. My personal record was 3 hours in calm water. And even after that, I was not tired, cause I did not panic.

Always think this  when you are out in the water. "Panic, and I am dead "

  2. yes when a trout bit me

  3. sometimes when i'm in the ocean, but i dont want to feel the ground i feel as if a crabs is gunna be RIGHT under my foot and snag it

  4. only because Im not the greatest swimmer and my hamstrings cramp very easily. So I get stuck in a 10 foot pool with a leg that cant kick. I do kick around alot and panic trying to get to the edge of the pool. It is just a reflex that when my legs cant move I try to flail around to move instead.

  5. only when there are sharks in the water : )  Therefore I do not swim in the ocean anymore.  watched too many shark week specials!!!
