Whether it was HS or another type of league..If so,did you know this guy was going to be that good and that he'd eventually make it to the show?

I ask because I played against former #2 pick Ben Davis in Philly and even though he had a great arm I didn't think he was a MAJOR talent.

  1. I played with and against several players in HS who were drafted, but to my knowledge none of them ever made it to the majors, at least 2 of them played minor league ball though. One of my teammates was drafted but decided to go to college instead because he was drafted in the later rounds and he wouldn't have made much money if he had signed.

  2. Mike Schmidt at Ohio University.

  3. I got an RBI single off a guy who wound up in AAA ball with the Monteal Expos.

  4. I played against Pujols once when he was at Fort Osage High School in Missouri and played in a couple of the same American Legion tournaments as he did but our teams never played against ech other in those tourneys.

Any game he was in at that point in his life you could tell he was the best player on the field.  He was built the same way he is now.  He was a man playing amongst boys.

  5. Played against Michael Bowden (P-Red Sox) in high school. Yeah, he was destined to be good. He had a fastball that hit above 90. I think he struck out 18 of us that game.

  6. Sean Marcum (P-Blue Jays) , Mike Pelfrey (P-Mets) , Brian Bullington (P-#1 in Draft by Pittsburgh) , Victor Diaz (OF-Mets, Rangers) , Brad Ziegler (P-A's) , Jeremy Accardo (P-Toronto) , Mitch Maier (OF-Royals),  were a few.

Pelfrey, Bullington and Ziegler were lights out as pitchers. You knew they were good. Marcum and Accardo were both shortstops that would come in and close games when we played them so it was a surprise to see them make it as pitchers. For the most part, you knew they were all special when you played against them.

  7. i played agaisnt danny almonte i went 3 for 4 with two doubles a triple and groundout.

  8. played against shawn dunston

  9. of course, hit a homerun off babe ruth in little league. then in college i played against ted williams.

    gimme a break

  10. In baseball I played with a guy Joe Kurcharski at Surrattsville Jr High in Clinton Maryland & I know nobody ever heard of him but maybe some old time Orioles fans might if they followed their old farm system Charolette, he made it to the minors but never made it to the major league level then my family moved  to Va & I played football & soccer at Thomas Jefferson High School in Alexandria Va with kicker Scott Norwood from the Buffalo Bills back in 1978, I was a sophmore & he was a senior
