  1. I live on the 4th floor of a block of flats in south london.

No, I havent plowed any fields recently..lol

But, yes - I'd love to have a go on a tractor.

  2. Grew up on a rye grass farm.  Ploughed with an old John Deer and a very large Clydesdale name Dan.  Prefer the horse, can't hug the tractor's neck when your done.

  3. Nope

  4. had a ploughmans lunch once.... does that count?

  5. Uhhh, No. I was born and raised in the city of angels, Los Angeles, Ca., but I here it is a tough job (when done by horse).

  6. I plough regularly, with a tractor!  It can be any one of six 'classic' David Browns on our farm.

Also I have a choice of 2 furrow reversible, 3 furrow reversible, 3 furrow conventional (one way) or single furrow conventional.

It's harder work with horses, but it's better exercise!

Horse ploughing is also much quieter, you can hear the world around you! and is more satisfying, plus, with horses, you're not alone in the field, and, can be quite relaxing - oddly enough!

The tractor gets it done faster! and is more comfortable in bad weather - if it's a tractor with a cab!  Also, it doesn't leave you kna**ered by tea-time!

Alternatively,  I have a two wheeled, "Iron Horse" tractor from 1947 (yes, 60 years old!) which is a sort of hybrid, because you walk behind it like with horses, but it's got an engine, like a proper tractor.  It does however leave you, well, worn-out like with horses.

  7. I have not, but would rather plow using a horse.

  8. Hi D, I have been on a tractor before.

  9. Yes, with a tractor, I can remember walking along with my grandfather as he plowed with horses.

  10. yes

    tractor ;)

ooo, so what kinda guy do you go for? the manly ploughing type?

  11. we do it with a herd of huskies in ireland......... just joking.... nope ive never ploughed a field

  12. yes..........with a tractor.

  13. I stepped in some cowshit once.  I was chased by a bull.

  14. Yes, with a tractor, though I would not rate myself as an expert. I do it on my farm in preparation for a pasture reseed when the grazing gets "tired".  If the weather is right, it's a nice way to spend a few hours, and I should imagine it would be more so with a horse.

  15. tractor

  16. I do it with bullocks which is the normal practice in this part of the world.Tractor is uneconomical for us as the fields are small.

I enjoy it immensely both as an exercise and the knowledge that I am doing something positive.
