  1. I have purchased three cruises through Expedia.  Two did not require flying (I live in Los Angeles) and the one that did (left out of Florida) I purchased the air fare separately.  In fact I recommend that you purchase the air separate from the cruise.  When you purchase cruise air the cruise lines use flights you would never book yourself.  Why?  Because they are looking for the least expensive seats.  You might not have all the seats together and if you are booking multiple cabins, your entire party might not be on the same flight.  Usually you can get a better price if you purchase the air fare yourself.  Even if the price is not better, the flight you pick will be much better than one chosen for you by someone looking for the least expensive seat.

At any rate, back to Expedia.  They were fine.  My second cruise I ended up changing from one ship late in the year to a different ship earlier in the year, and they handled that fine also.

However, I don't use Expedia any more.  Why?  Because they charge a non-refundable $15 booking fee on top of the commission they get.  Also, I found a wonderful agent who provides personalized service.  He even helps me with things he will not get a commission on.  Expedia would never do that.  Also, my current agent doesn't charge a booking fee.  Finally, sometimes my agent surprises me with gifts (wine, coloring books for the kids, chocolate covered strawberries, extra on board credit ...).  Expedia is not going to send you any thank you gifts.
