Have you ever purchased glassware from Murano, Italy?

I absolutely love Murano table lamps and chandeliers. One of the many reasons why I would love to travel to Italy is to take a look (and possibly purchase a few items) at the glasswares in Venice. If you have been to Murano, what are the prices and shipping costs of chandeliers/table lamps? What has your shopping experience like?

  1. I bought a teensy chandelier for $500 and the shipping was also heinously expensive----but they included extra glass flowers just in case they were broken during shipping back to the US.

  2. I was there in September.  Items are expensive on Murano.  I found some items near St. Marks Square were a bit cheaper.

  3. Have purchased many items from the masters on Murano it will depend on the wieght for shipping but each piece is produced by the 4-5 Masters so you will be the only person to have your piece as no 2 are the same in April of 07 I purchased a mirror for the bathroom it was lovely paid 1600 euro and shipped for 500 euro arrived in perfect condtion but takes around 8-10 weeks. I have pics of the pcs. I have collected if you are interested let me know and I will send but with the exchange rate for a small pcs. you will be paying around 800 USD good luck they are truly works of Art.

  4. I have purchased.. I am not sure of the price... but whoever you get to pack it, make sure it is very well padded so nothing breaks :D also great shopping expierience....... good luck ;)
