  1. Yes, squeaked a 150 up to just over 15,000 on a very cold winter day.  Had an H-3 (Sea King helicopter) up to 12,560 once, but I digress)

  2. I got one up to 12,000 once on a cold winter night. Almost froze to death on the way back down. The heater doesn't work very well at low power settings.

  3. not me personally, but i think my cousin has had it close. it certainly is possible depending on atmopheric conditions and weight of the aircraft. If it's a cold dry day and it's just you with maybe half tanks, it is certainly possible.

but if you do it, bring oxygen. you must have oxygen for flight above 12,500ft for longer than 30 mins (to the best of my recollection). In any case, check the regs.

  4. had a 172 to 15,500 it was doing about 200fpm up there.

  5. --Went up light in a C-172 on a cool day, and climbed above FL 200.  --Got a bit of a headache up there.

  6. I hope you guys were following the FAR requirements for oxygen at those altitudes.
