  1. It's ok if they drink everything in their cup, but if they don't then you have no way of knowing how much they had. I learned from experience w/ my oldest daughter b/c she could taste it in her drink (i only used about an ounce or so of liquid so maybe it just wasn't enough-idk)...

Try giving her the medicine and rewarding her w/ a treat or a "prize" and a drink, (this works in our house- my kids love to take med to get their prize), if the mixing it doesn't work for you. We use a couple of mini marshmallows, a couple of m&ms, or a couple of gummy bears and some milk or juice (her choice). You could also reward your daughter w/ a homemade popsicle made from unsweetened koolaid or fruit juice...

I would mix it in her cup 1st and give it a shot at least- it can't hurt... flavored yogurt is also good to mix it in!

(I don't want to insult you by ANY means or in ANY way, but for my own conscience and peace of mind-I must remind you to please use age appropriate "prizes" for your child.)

  2. yep!!! in their cup of juice (shouldn't put juice in bottle) I never put it into milk though, think it may not mix well?? But just use a small amount of liquid to make sure they take all the meds at once... The best method is just making them take it all from a spoon or syringe. I still use a syringe with my 3 year old, its easier to MAKE them take it. (It wont spill while pnning them down :-)

    GOOD LUCK!!!

  3. oh ya, my daughter used to have to take this gross zantax type stuff when she was an infant. it was for acid reflux, and it tasted like pure peppermint..which made her gag and choke..so i always mixed it in her formula bottle, and it worked fine....

  4. Put her Motrin in apple sauce.   You do not want to put in in liquid.  Put it in pudding, if that is what she likes best. It is easier to swallow that way.  If she is drinking a liquid she may feel the pill and spit it out, or it may melt, and she will not get it all or have stomach upset.

  5. Yes, my daughter is 9 months and has to take allergy medicine and milk of magnesia daily for severe constipation. i put claritin in her a.m. bottle and the m.o.m. in her bottle before bed. the only medicine she'll take willingly is cherry flavored tylenol. just make sure she is gonna drink the whole cup, otherwise she won't get all the meds.

  6. Personally I don't think its a good idea to put medican in with their drinks. What if they don't finish their drink then you will have to give them more medican and you won't know how much (if any) they've had.

  7. I've done this. I think it works better if they take it all at once but I have given in this way to my oldest (4 yo) who is VERY fussy about medicine. However, the Motrin must have a strong taste, and changed the flavor of his juice and he totally knew something was wrong with it and asked me. I think Tylenol has a better flavor and might mix a little better.

One way I got my oldest to take antibiotics is letting him use a straw (you can't mix antibiotics because you have to get the dose down all at once/as quickly as possible). He loves straws so that worked for him.

  8. I never did that with my son because then if wouldn't drink the whole thing he didn't have a whole dose and I couldn't give him more because I wasn't exactly sure how much he had. Instead I just kind of squeezed his cheeks and gave him a dose really fast. Sounds mean, I know, but it was over before he knew what hit him!

  9. Never worked for my son, he always knew when it was in there.

  10. You need to be careful with what you mix with -- sometimes things that are acidic (like OJ) or basic (like milk) can affect the medication. Any pharmacist should be able to tell you, tho'.

  11. It works but you have to put the right amount of formula or whatever you give her to drink so you don't dilute the medicine too much. I had to do this with my oldest daughter becuase at the age of 2 she absolutely REFUSED medicine. I tried EVERYTHING,even my grandma surefire way failed( holding their nose and putting the medicine in her mouth until she swallowed it....she just spit it out in my face and all over herself)

When you do this put the medicine in first(there will more than likely be a little left over in the dropper or cup you use for it) then put MAYBE about an ounce of drink in it and then use the dropper to suck up some of the drink and squirt it back out so you make sure you get all the medicine into the cup and out of the dropper(or cup) and then put the lid on,swish it around a bit and give it to her...after she drinks it all and wants more then just give her regular drink without medicine in it to wash it all down. DO THIS IS SECRET THOUGH!!!! My daughter saw me do it once and everytime I have tried doing it since she is wise to me and won't drink it....now my new drink is getting those quick dissolve strips of medicine(dimetap) and cutting a fruit snack in two...folding the strip and putting it inside the sliced fruit snack and smooshing it back together...she hasn't caught me yet and it still works!

    Good Luck!

  12. I had to so it when my daughter was younger, she would spit out any medicine, or make herself throw it up.

I put it in her cup and as long as she drank it all I believe it worked.

Just make sure to not put too much juice in there so they dont have more juice than they are going to drink.

Also I would add some juice and some water to the cup, I think the water makes the medicine taste less.
