I don't know how the carpet got so bad, but I want them clean again and management does not offer this service. I am looking for experience, tips and advice!

  1. You maybe better off trying to do it yourself, with a washer dryer vacuum, also it may work out cheaper then getting someone in to do it for you.

  2. A rug doctor seems like a good idea, but if you live in an apartment, make sure your neighbors dont mind the noise. They sound like jet engines taking off. Look in your local paper for coupons to local carpet cleaning services. Make sure they are lisenced and insured though!

  3. I own my own steam cleaner. Don't ever use a shampooer. It will leave shampoo in you carpet - that will attract dirt even faster than before. Rent a steam cleaner. Use half the cleaning solution it recommends and rinse well. I bought a Hoover from Walmart and I love it. I do mine about every 3 months so they don't get dirty and all I have to use now is water. I have white carpeting. You can also use the machine to clean your mattress, car and just to suck up water. They are a great investment.

  4. I'VE RENTED IT IT IS TRULY A INEXPENSIVE AND SMART WAY TO GO.
