What was your experience like? What were you asked in the Voir Dire if you got that far? Did you actually serve on a case? What was the case about?

  1. I responded to a summons for jury duty.  However I was not ultimately selected to be a part of the case because of certain opinions I hold regarding the crime of rape.  The trial was a decade old rape case that was being retried due to a technicality.  The first day was a lot of talking done by the judge.  Also the judge heard excuses from people why they could not serve and excused them if they were worthy reasons.  After that, they had us fill out a questionnaire about rape.  Then they eliminated anyone who had a certain bias, including me.  The nice thing was that in New York, jurors received a compensation for serving and I got forty bucks just for sitting there all day.  I had a day off from work anyway, so it worked out very nicely.  You should know though, that if you do work you cannot be fired if you are called to serve on a jury.  Financial compensation is a different story, but most companies will pay your salary if you are serving on a jury.

  2. I have never to my recollection been summoned to jury duty.

  3. I've been 3 timesw been picked once and was seated for the trial to start and the dude went in the hospiital while being transported to the court house, heart issues...i was looking forward to the case too...cocaine and attempting to elude from teh cops...

  4. Yes it was boring.

  5. yep pretty good except the meals which suck. was asked if i knew the defendant and then the attorneys and if i had an opinion about them. told the judge i knew the defense attorney and he should be tarred and feathered and rode out of town on a rail. then the proscecutor should be drawn and quartered. as for the defendant i had brought a rope and if we couldn't tar and feather the defense attorney or draw and quarter the prosecutor then we could use the same rope to hang all of them. ain't been asked to serve since.
